In Iyengar yoga the teacher focuses on alignment and inner awareness. This awareness starts with the body and expands to other parts of the self as one continues with the regularity of practice. It is believed that once an individual masters the body, they have the ability to master the mind. Ashtanga Yoga: this ancient yoga system has been come to be known as "power yoga" today because it focuses on a powerful breathing and movement method. By practicing breathing and moving simultaneously, you are cleansing your internal system. As your body sweats, you will be eliminating diseases from yourself and purification will begin. Ashtanga yoga movements include pushups and lunges, which deals with strength and stamina. These types of yoga are best for people who have successfully overcome back injuries and are looking for more challenging practice. Bikram Yoga: this yoga method is also known as "hot yoga" because it is practiced in a room that is between 95 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Bikram yoga is an excellent tool for increasing flexibility because the heat helps tissue to stretch. Additionally, the poses performed in Bikram yoga create pressure by cutting off the blood supply to the veins. When the pose is released, blood rushes through the veins and arteries flushing out the toxins. Please keep in mind that Bikram yoga should not be performed by those that have cardio vascular or heart diseases. Vini Yoga: this yoga variant is typically performed one on one with a yoga instructor. Vini yoga is one of the more relaxed forms of yoga. It is known to be therapeutic and restorative because it links breathe and movement in flowing exercises. Your capacity to deeply inhale and fully exhale determines the length and intensity of the flowing exercise. These are often a good form of yoga for those with back problems or neck injuries because it can be easily adapted by anyone. Raja Yoga: this method of yoga brings the mind and body into balance by focusing on a meditative object. Those practicing Bhakti yoga pour out their love and adoration for the Lord along with sharing their deepest thoughts. Mantra Yoga: this yoga type is also known as the "yoga of potent sound,". Mantra yoga aims for liberation through the verbal or mental repetition of empowered sounds, such as "om," "hum," or "ram." The chanting of these words clears the mid and transcends the superconscious. There are so many variants of yoga to choose.
